Starting today (May 29), two major vehicle underpasses (VUPs) near Mani and Uppinangady have been opened for public use, significantly improving traffic flow along National Highway 75. These underpasses aim to reduce congestion and enhance commuter convenience along the busy Mangaluru–Bengaluru route.
Additionally, from June 2, the left lane of the flyover in Kalladka town will also be opened to vehicular movement. Of the 15.13 km stretch between Addahole and Periyashanthi, 14.4 km of the four-lane road work has been completed. Similarly, out of the 48.48 km between Periyashanthi and Bantwal, 41.52 km is now ready and operational.
Highlighting the progress, MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta stated that the BC Road–Addahole stretch of the NH-75 four-laning project is in its final stages. To ensure smooth traffic and minimize public inconvenience, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been instructed to clear key stretches like the Kalladka flyover for vehicle movement.
Addressing public concerns about water stagnation issues at Thumbe, the NHAI has installed a pipe culvert to ensure proper drainage. This step is expected to prevent future traffic obstructions caused by waterlogging.
Chowta also noted that complaints from the public regarding traffic disruptions have been taken seriously. He directed authorities to act swiftly in such instances and ensure suitable alternate traffic arrangements to avoid further inconvenience to commuters.
