A woman in Louisiana has been charged with manslaughter after she allegedly attacked a man with a bat and left him in the street, where he was fatally struck by two passing cars moments later.
The 43 year old Tonnisha Mitchell, is accused of repeatedly hitting Gene Hill, 42, in the head and body with a bat following a heated argument that broke out in her car and continued onto the street just after midnight on Friday, as per the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses told investigators that Hill collapsed to the ground after the violent assault. As Mitchell fled the scene, the severely injured man was unable to get up and was subsequently run over by two vehicles, leading to his death.
Authorities quoted by the New York Post said that Mitchell also attempted to destroy evidence in multiple locations after the incident.
She was later arrested at her home and is now being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Alongside manslaughter, she faces charges of second-degree battery.
The nature of Mitchell's relationship with Hill remains unclear.
