JAMMU: Security forces have launched a massive joint search operation after getting information about the movement of three suspected terrorists in a forest area in the border district of Samba in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, a joint team of police and central armed police forces laid a cordon in the forests of Nangal, Chilladanga, Goran and adjoining areas early Saturday morning, and mounted a search after locals informed cops about suspicious movement of three persons late at night.

“No trace of the suspected terrorists has been found so far, but the operation is under progress,” said an official. Locals have been advised to remain vigilant.

On May 15, too, security forces had mounted search operations in Reasi and Samba districts following reports of suspected movements.

A joint search operation was carried out by CRPF and J&K Police in Bhaga area, 20 kms from Reasi city, from Wednesday evening till Friday, after a local woman claimed she had seen two-three suspects in the area, who later disappeared in the nearby forest.

In Samba district, a search operation launched in Ratanpur village has continued since Wednesday after a woman claimed seeing two suspicious persons filling water near a tank in the courtyard of her house, and later disappearing into the forest.
