JAMMU: Continuing their crackdown on underage driving by registering cases against people who allow minor wards to drive their vehicles in the Union territory, Doda police booked the father of a minor, who was at the wheel when he hit and injured a pedestrian.
“Taking a strict action against traffic violators, Doda police booked the owner of an Alto car (JK06A-2434) for allowing a minor to drive the vehicle. The minor driver hit and injured a pedestrian in Doda town on Friday,” police said.
“The offender also endangered his and others' lives,” police said, adding, “Swift action was taken by a police team from PS Doda under the supervision of inspector Parvaiz Khanday, SHO PS Doda, who registered a case vide FIR No 83/2025,” police said.
“Father of offender (driver), Nar Singh of Bagla Bharat, was booked under Section 199 of the MV Act for allowing a minor to drive the vehicle. The vehicle has also been seized,” police said.
Sandeep Mehta, SSP of Doda, cautioned vehicle owners and parents of minors that strict action will be taken against them if they allow their minor children or unauthorized people to drive their vehicles.
