SRINAGAR: BJP took Thursday its Tiranga Yatra to Pahalgam, the touristy town in south Kashmir where a terrorist attack killed 26 people on April 22 and triggered India’s May 7 airstrikes on terrorism-tied sites in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor .
A separate rally was held at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, a symbolic location long associated with nationalist displays, with BJP workers waving the Tricolour, voicing support for armed forces and PM Narendra Modi for Operation Sindoor’s success.
In Pahalgam, the rally saw participation from local hoteliers and ponywallahs. Led by BJP’s Sofi Yousuf, many participants carried the Tricolour while riding horses through the popular resort town.
The Srinagar rally began at Sher-e-Kashmir Park and ended at the iconic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk. “It was a powerful demonstration of patriotism and solidarity with the armed forces,” BJP said in a statement, claiming thousands joined the march.
Addressing the gathering, BJP spokesperson and J&K Waqf Board chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi called the rally a tribute to security forces for dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. “This rally is an expression of our love for the nation,” she said.
Andrabi warned of “strict action” against Pakistan if any terrorist strike occurred in Kashmir following the pause in Indo-Pak military action.
