Early retirement is not a new thing in the world of MMA. The UFC has seen fighters like Malcolm Gordon, Jamie Pickett, Tyson Pedro and others hanging up their gloves quite early in their careers. Former LFA bantamweight champion Daniel Argueta joins the list of these fighters after he announced his retirement, after a disappointing UFC streak, in his recent Instagram post, thereby putting an end to the dreams of a UFC championship.
Daniel Argueta’s only win in the UFC came from his bout against Nick AguirreWith an MMA record of 9-3-0, Daniel Argueta announced his retirement after a disappointing record of 1-3 within the UFC. His last two defeats came at the hands of Cody Haddon and Jean Matsumoto. The fighter’s only win in the UFC was against Nick Aguirre.
In his recent Instagram post, Argueta wrote, “It’s with a heavy heart that today I’ve decided to hang up my gloves. After receiving news of the UFC not giving me the opportunity to finish out the final fight on my contract, I’ve ultimately decided to turn the page and start writing my next chapter.” The fighter confirmed the news of UFC cutting him loose of his contract due to the disappointing run within the promotion.
“With that being said fighting indeed saved my life. I gave it my all every-time I stepped into an Octagon and that’s something I’m at peace with. This opportunity taught me more about myself than anything else. It molded me into the man that can handle becoming the best version of himself, it helped me find my best friend and soon to be beautiful wife, and it showed me that I CAN do anything I set my mind to.”
Argueta expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his supporters as the fighter moves towards a new phase of his life, “To everyone that believed in me and supported me, thank you. I’m sorry I couldn’t achieve more in the sport. I had big dreams and was willing to go until the wheels fell off but God had other plans for me. To my family, friends, team I promise to always bring the same enthusiasm, laughter, & DETERMINATION with me wherever I go in life. It’s the least I can do.”
The fighter’s decision to move away from the sport seems to be a rigid one considering the hardcore nature of it, “To the roughest, toughest, most demanding job on earth (Next to being a parent). You’re a cruel son of a b*tch, but I’ll always love what we had. This isn’t a maybe we’ll get back together. This is a goodbye. Opportunity awaits”

Even though Argueta couldn’t have a successful run within the UFC, the fighter was the bantamweight champion at LFA, securing the belt in his bout against Diego Silva. While confirming his retirement, the fighter has not yet revealed anything about the next stage of his life.
