Indore: A 55-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner in a fit of rage under the influence of alcohol in Dwarkapuri area on Sunday morning.
Police said that the victim, identified as Vasu Bai, originally from Khandwa, was living with the accused, Ravi Shataware, for the past one and a half years.
Dwarkapuri police station in charge Sushil Patel, the incident took place in Guru Shankar Nagar. Both Vasu Bai and Ravi were known to be habitual drinkers. On the night of the incident, they consumed alcohol together. During the course of their drinking session, Vasu allegedly began abusing Ravi, following which he lost his temper. In a fit of rage, he grabbed her head and repeatedly slammed it against the wall, leading to her death.
Ravi's family members informed Vasu's daughter, Jamuna, about the incident. She reached the house around 7 am and alerted the police. Jamuna told investigators that her father worked as a labourer in a village near Khandwa and lived there with her three siblings. She herself got married recently and lives in Aakash Nagar.
Police said that the accused, Ravi, is a daily wage labourer and Vasu Bai often accompanied him to work. Ravi has since been taken into custody and further investigation was underway.
