Unexpected royals who could move into Prince Andrew's Royal Lodge

Prince Andrew's future at Royal Lodge remains in doubt as King Charles is still said to want his brother to move out. The 65-year-old has lived at the 30-room home since 2004 - with his former wife Sarah Ferguson also living at the Windsor home.

With 's residency at , speculation has grown over who could be set to take over the keys from the disgraced royal. After it was , one expert has suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh could be the likely royals to move in.

Previously speaking to , royal author Gareth Russell noted the home's high-profile history - with the home typically given to senior royals.

He said: "The logical choice, of course, would be the Prince and Princess of Wales, but they've shown relatively little interest in moving home again.

"They seem quite content where they are. It could be the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh."

Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie have lived at Bagshot Park ever since their wedding in 1999. The couple have lived in the home with their two children - although their daughter Lady Louise is currently attending university in St Andrew's Scotland.

The Grade II-listed building, which is set within 51 acres of land, has 120 rooms after it was demolished and rebuilt in 1879.

Despite theorising that a member of the Royal Family could move in, he also suggested that it could remain unused - in an attempt to "shake-up the royal property portfolio".

He added: "It could also be that this is part of another move by the King to slim down or shake up the royal property portfolio. It's not the case that we're seeing them being replaced by other royals as much as they were in the past.

"So it may be that Royal Lodge is just put to different use once Prince Andrew leaves. It's possible that no one will go into Royal Lodge."
