Following the rumours that The Inbetweeners is set for a TV comeback next year, fans have been sent into meltdown after two of the stars from the E4 show reunited. It has been over a decade since Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil were last on our screens, and with a rumoured reunion on the cards, two actors have added more fuel to the fire after posing together in a selfie. Fans will remember Martin Trenaman and Robin Weaver, who played Simon's embarrassing parents in the popular series. Martin said on X: "I give you Mr and Mrs Cooper. #Inbetweeners." This prompted a flurry of comments from fans who were delighted over the reunion.
One person commented: "Bit of a coincidence you posting this after all the inbetweeners come back rumours." Another also echoed: "Please tell me you guys have been sounded out about the new series."
A third also typed: "The Inbetweeners was comedy gold!"
Whether it's The Inbetweeners or other popular TV series that have left our screens, the reunion rumour mill is always turning, but unfortunately, a lot of the rumours don't turn into reality.
The E4 show first aired in 2008 and ran for three seasons. Two feature films were then released in 2011 and 2014. The series follows four friends as they embark on adventures throughout their school years.
The main characters are Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley) and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison).
The Sun has reported that a deal has been made with production giant Banijay UK as chief executive Patrick Holland was "delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners with them."
It was unveiled last year by Joe Thomas, who played Simon, that chats have happened in various forms, but they would need all four of the main stars involved to consider a reunion. He noted that they had all agreed it would be nice to do so.
No confirmed details have been shared on how the reboot will look, but the characters will now be in their mid-thirties, having moved away from their school days.
