Sex and the City's Evan Handler, known for his role as Harry Goldenblatt, Charlotte York's husband played by Kristin Davis, has opened up about the one scene that flipped the script on his character's journey.
The actor, 64, graced Thursday's episode (June 26) of BBC's The One Show, where he discussed 'And Just Like That', the latest instalment to the iconic series, with hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Jones.
The star was originally meant to be on Sex and the City for four-episodes but he won over producers with a performance so captivating, it extended his tenure on the show indefinitely.
Prompted by Roman Kemp's curiosity about his short-term contract transforming into a mainstay role, he said: "When you originally signed up for the series, you were like 'four episodes, I'll go in and get it done' but it was the bachelor pad that changed everything I hear."
In a candid response, the actor admitted: "It's what sealed it from the writer's perspective. It wasn't my choice to just do four episodes", The Mirror reports.
Evan also shared his initial unawareness of a bigger plot at play and the weekly pressure of proving his place, recounting: "I didn't know until those four episodes began to be filmed that they had a possible future in mind and then you feel like you're testing every week when you show up to do your work day."
The star added: "And I feel like this clip of me in the bachelor pad was a day I felt on the ropes and wondering if I was going to make the cut or not."
Co-host Alex was quick to interject: "I can't even imagine it without you."
Reflecting on the experience of reuniting with his fellow cast members for the new sequel, Evan remarked: "It's amazing and I feel so blessed to be a part of something so popular when I entered it and it gave me a scene of being part of a history of entertainment that meant something to so many people."
He continued: "It lasted so long and has seen so many people during so many phases of their lives so to be able to have that and be with this remarkable group of women like Kristin Davis, who I just adore and get to work with so it's a remarkable experience and not many people get to have this experience especially over one project."
The One Show continues on weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
