Jonathan Ross' daughter Honey stunned by dad's 'nightmare' decision with mum

Jonathan Ross left his daughter Honey stunned with a "nightmare" decision he made before marrying his wife Jane. Jonathan met screenwriter Jane back in 1986 at a promotional event for his show The Last Resort.

Jane says she invited him to another event hoping for a chance to meet Jonathan once more. Their relationship blossomed and the pair tied the knot two years later in Las Vegas. The pair now share daughters Honey and Betty as well as son Harvey together. It was on his Reel Talk podcast with Honey that Jonathan opened up about an unfortunate moment at his stag-do.

When asked about the occasion, Jonathan explained: "Mine was really misguided, the whole thing, I don't even want to talk about it to be frank. I was with my friend from childhood who wasn't really my friend anymore, but I felt I should invite him. Jane had a friend with her who she had since childhood who wasn't really a friend anymore.

"We had Jane's mum and dad who were on the verge of splitting up, we had my mum and dad who had just split up, because we did it out of the country."

Honey added: "Oh my God, you invited them even though they were recently divorced? That's a nightmare guest list."

Jonathan added: "That night I went out with Jane's dad, who I didn't know that well at the time, my dad, who was fine, and this friend of mine that I haven't seen for years. It was just like, 'Why are we four people who never normally hang out together...'

"So I didn't do a party party, but I don't think I wanted to anyway. I was too interested in getting married."

Honey concluded that her dad's stag-do was a "classy" approach. Jonathan however admitted it was an "uncomfortable evening".

Jane, who has worked on films such as Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class, and Kick Ass, was just starting out in journalism as a 16-year-old when she met Jonathan. Despite their 10-year age difference the pair bonded over their love of science fiction, horror films and American pop culture.

Speaking to the Times in 2012 Jane said: "I met Jonathan at some sort of promotional event. He'd just started his show The Last Resort. He'd only been doing it for two weeks, I think.

"I can't remember what we talked about. I wish I could.

"I think I invited him to some other thing, hoping to see him again. Maybe I was less socially awkward back then."

Jonathan opened up about their age-gap during an appearance on Loose Women in 2015. He said: "When we first got together, she was very young... I wasn't that old but I was considerably older and she came straight from home with her parents.

"And I think the relationship carried on, I was sort of a parent figure as well as a husband," he admitted.
