ITV Emmerdale star announces exit and has already filmed final scenes

A soap star embroiled in a major storyline is set to wave goodbye to Emmerdale - and he has already filmed his final scenes on the . Geoff Dignan, who plays Aidan Moore, confirmed his exit on social media, as he shared some behind the scenes snaps to X (formerly ).

In recent weeks, the character has suffered at the hands of the village's current villain, John Sugden, played by Oliver Farnworth. Fans were left wondering if his days were numbered as John, who was previously engaged to Aidan, visited him at the hospital and told him how he planned to kill him.

In the shocking moment, Aidan woke up from his coma momentarily but heard John's vicious threats, which caused him to panic so much that he suffered a cardiac arrest and slipped back into a coma. While his life hangs in the balance, the actor teased that it might not be the end of the line for him just yet, although he confirmed that he would be leaving the Dales.

Posting to X, Geoff wrote: "I had an absolute blast playing Aidan Moore in . I've met great people from the crew to the very talented cast. Thank you to my agent @StarkTalentUK."

However, Geoff teased that the character could maybe be back in the future, as he added: "Who knows what's in store 4 Aidan, after all it's , he's woken up once... why not one more time."

Villain John initially told his current partner, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), that Aidan was a fellow soldier from his days in Afghanistan, who tragically died in an incident at his military base.

However, the truth soon came to light, with John forced to reveal that he regularly visits Aidan in hospital, alongside his mother Cathleen (Julia Watson).

Several viewers are also suspecting that Aidan might make a shock return to ruin John and Aaron's marriage, with one person writing: "Surely Aidan will wake up again soon?" Another added: "Aidan has to wake up. We need to know exactly what happened between him and John."
