Davide Ancelotti, son of the legendary Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, is reportedly set to become ' next manager and will bring another key member of his father's backroom team with him to Ibrox. The younger Ancelotti has seen his odds shorten dramatically in recent days.
Speculation on social media has intensified regarding the new San Francisco 49ers-backed owners' search for a new manager at Rangers. And now Spanish outlet report that the deal is 'almost certain' to go ahead. They suggest that Ancelotti Jr, who has served as his father's right-hand man in his last four roles, is 'one step away' from making Rangers his first independent managerial role.
It's reported he'll continue assisting Carlo when he takes over as Brazil manager for matches against Ecuador (June 6) and Paraguay (June 10). After this, he's expected to head to Ibrox to oversee pre-season.
Interestingly, it's suggested that he'll bring Francesco Mauri, another key member of his dad's backroom staff, with him as his assistant in the Scottish Premiership.
It's also reported that Ancelotti Jr is prepared to reject interest from Saudi Arabia to make the move. Como are another club said to be keen with Cesc Fabregas increasingly likely to leave the Italian side despite their promotion to Serie A.
