Send Push

As Virat Kohli leads Royal Challengers Bangalore into the IPL 2025 playoffs, he's also made headlines off the field — by investing in a brand-new global sports venture: the World Bowling League (WBL).

Kohli’s Latest Business Move

On 28 May, Kohli announced via social media that he’s joining the World Bowling League as a strategic investor and partner. This emerging professional bowling league aims to redefine the sport using cutting-edge technology and fan engagement strategies.

“I started spinning bowling balls at 13,” Kohli shared, highlighting his personal connection with the sport.

Kohli is teaming up with:

  • Adi Mishra, his business partner from the E1 electric boat racing team "Blue Rising"

  • Mookie Betts, Major League Baseball superstar from the LA Dodgers

  • Other prominent sports and tech personalities

What Is the World Bowling League?

The World Bowling League is a tech-driven sports initiative targeting over 100 million fans worldwide. Its vision:

  • Modernize bowling as a competitive sport

  • Enhance global visibility

  • Engage fans digitally via platforms like FSP (Fan-Sport Platform)

With names like Kohli and Betts on board, WBL isn’t just aiming for niche success — it’s positioning itself for mainstream global impact.

Kohli: Cricketer, Captain… and Businessman

This isn’t Kohli’s first foray into business. His growing portfolio includes:

  • One8 (athleisure brand)

  • Chisel (fitness chain)

  • Blue Rising (E1 powerboat racing)

  • Multiple tech and sports investments

His WBL entry aligns with his ongoing strategy: leveraging his brand and sports knowledge to back high-potential ventures.

But IPL Remains the Primary Focus

Despite this big business announcement, Kohli is locked in on the IPL 2025 playoffs. With RCB finishing 2nd on the points table, they now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 on 29 May.

Kohli’s IPL 2025 performance:

  • 602 runs in 13 matches

  • Average: 60+

  • Strike rate: 147
