Shubman Gill dazzled cricket fans by scoring a brilliant century in the first innings of the Leeds Test. But after his impressive performance, here’s an interesting fact that might surprise you — the bat used by India’s Test captain is actually cheaper than the bat of South Africa’s captain Temba Bavuma, who led his team to become World Test Champions.
Shubman Gill’s Bat: The Affordable Choice
Shubman Gill uses the MRF Prince bat. This year, he signed a lucrative deal with MRF reportedly worth Rs 10 crore annually. However, despite this huge endorsement deal, the actual price of the bat he plays with is surprisingly modest.
According to official bat manufacturer websites, the cost of Gill’s bat ranges between Rs 53,000 and Rs 55,000.
Temba Bavuma’s Bat: The Pricier Pick
On the other hand, South Africa’s captain Temba Bavuma uses DSC’s Black Edition bat, which is priced significantly higher. The bat costs over Rs 75,000 — about Rs 20,000 more than Gill’s bat.
Form Matters More Than Price
Despite the difference in bat prices, Shubman Gill’s current form is outstanding. Since becoming captain, he has made a big impact, including scoring a memorable century against England in Leeds — proving that the price of the bat does not determine success on the field.
