Why should we not drink milk in the month of Saavan?
- Apart from worshipping Bholenath, fasts are also observed in Sawan. In such a situation, people also consume milk during the fast, which can prove to be harmful for health. Actually, due to excessive rain in Sawan, insects and harmful elements spread in the greens. These germs come in milk which can harm our health.
- There is also an argument that these days most of the insects buried in the ground come up and infect grass or green things. The grass is eaten by cows or buffaloes whose milk comes to our homes.
- According to religious belief, milk is offered to Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan, hence consuming milk in this month is considered prohibited.
Why should we not eat green vegetables in the month of Saavan?
- Due to heavy rains in the month of Saavan, small insects come in the greens, which can be harmful for health. During this time the digestive power becomes weak. Instead of green leafy vegetables, you can consume other vegetables such as gourd, parwal, and pumpkin.
- This month one should not consume such things which increase Vata. Green leafy vegetables increase Vata. This is the reason why even the scriptures and doctors do not recommend eating these in the month of Sawan.
Do not eat these vegetables - Green onion, mustard greens, broccoli, water hyacinth, chicory, cabbage, fennel, bathua, mint, coriander, fenugreek, radish leaves, green collards, lettuce should not be eaten in the month of Saavan.
