To make the ladyfinger plant green, you can add 10 rupees worth of mustard cake and onion peel as fertilizer. Mustard cake is an excellent organic fertilizer which is rich in all three nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK). It makes the soil fertile and promotes the overall growth of plants, leading to abundant flowers and fruits. Onion peels contain many micronutrients like potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium. These increase the immunity of plants and help in the development of fruits.
These ingredients are necessary while making homemade fertilizer for ladyfinger
- Mustard cake: 50 grams (about 2 handfuls)
- Onion Peels: 1-2 onion peels (as many as available)
- Water: 1 liter
- A pot or bucket with a lid
How to make homemade fertilizer to increase the yield of ladyfinger?
- You can make a powerful liquid fertilizer by mixing these two things, which can prove to be very effective for the ladyfinger plant.
- Add mustard cake and onion peels in a vessel or bucket.
- Add 1 liter water to it.
- Cover the pot with a lid and let it sit in a warm place (not in direct sunlight) for 3 to 5 days.
- Keep stirring this mixture well once every day with a wooden stick. This will speed up the fermentation process.
- After 3-5 days, you can strain the solution to separate the solids. The solids can later be mixed directly into the soil near the roots of the plant or added to the compost. The filtered liquid is your fertilizer.
How to Fertilize Okra Plant?
- The prepared liquid manure is quite thick and potent. It is very important to dilute it before using it directly.
- Mix 1 part manure with 3-4 parts water. Make sure the soil of the okra plant is slightly moist, not dry, before adding the solution.
- Now pour the diluted solution into the soil near the roots of the okra plant. About 1/2 cup of the solution will be sufficient for a small plant and 1 cup of the solution will be sufficient for a large or established plant.
- You can use this fertilizer once every 15-20 days, especially when the plant starts flowering or you are expecting fruits.
