Amit Shah Assails Kerala Government, Cites List of Alleged Scams

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala - Union Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) new office, Mararji Bhavan, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. During the event, Shah paid tribute to the late K.G. Marar, former president of the BJP's Kerala unit, by offering floral tributes to his bronze statue and installing it in the new building. His address at the ceremony sharply criticized the incumbent Kerala government, accusing it of widespread corruption and highlighting what he termed a significant disparity in central funding.

Shah asserted that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre has released substantially more funds for Kerala compared to the allocations made by previous Congress-led governments. He then directly attacked both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), labeling them as governments with a "record of being corrupt."

The Union Minister specifically enumerated several alleged scams under the LDF government, including:

  • The "explosive scam"

  • Cooperative bank scam

  • AI camera scam

  • Life Mission scam

  • PPE kit scam

  • What he called "India's biggest scam, the state-sponsored gold smuggling scam"

BJP vs. CPI(M): A Contrast in Priorities

Drawing a comparison between the BJP and CPI(M), Shah noted that while both are cadre-based parties, their core objectives differ significantly. He stated that for CPI(M), the welfare of its cadre takes precedence over the development of Kerala, whereas for the BJP, the development of the state is paramount, even above the interests of its cadres.

Shah outlined Prime Minister Narendra Modi's three key visions for Kerala's progress:

  • Governance free from corruption

  • No discrimination in the implementation of government schemes

  • Development of Kerala that transcends political gains

Call for Change in Kerala's Leadership

The Union Minister urged the people of Kerala to consider the BJP as the only viable alternative for genuine change in the state. He observed that historically, voters have alternated between the UPA (now UDF) and the LDF when dissatisfied, but neither alliance has delivered fundamental transformation.

Shah declared, "Now the time has come, if you really want change in Kerala, then a BJP government will have to be formed in the state." He further stated his intention to tell Kerala voters that the 2026 elections will be fought with the aim of forming a BJP-NDA government under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.

During his speech, Amit Shah also acknowledged the sacrifices made by numerous party workers who have dedicated themselves to advancing the BJP's ideology in Kerala. He concluded by revering Kerala as a sacred land, highlighting the birth of the revered saint and philosopher, Adi Shankaracharya, in the state.
