The service said: "At 8.08pm on Friday (25th) crews from Luton, Stopsley, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard were called a fire in a laundry room at Luton Town Club.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire from an aerial platform and a 9m ladder using two hose reels. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hotspots. The gap would then become three points with one game left for each team but, as Luton's goal difference is hugely inferior to Derby's, a gigantic goal overhaul on the final day would be needed to save the Hatters.

Both City and Plymouth Argyle could be confirmed relegated today if they fail to win. Should they pick up three points against West Bromwich Albion and Preston North End respectively, both lowly teams would also need results elsewhere to go in their favour to have hope of a dramatic escape.
