'I won the lottery and life changed - then I made shocking discovery about my fiancé'

A young woman completely overhauled her whole life after winning the - and this included breaking things off with her fiancé following a stark realisation.

Alyssa Mosley won the Lottery after the pandemic, after spontaneously treating herself to a ticket. At first, Alyssa decided to keep her extraordinary win private, but ultimately decided to open up after talking things over with a pal.

Nowadays, Alyssa sheds light on what life is really like as a through her 'Day In The Life'videos, which have garnered her more than 31,000 followers. Although she has chosen not to specify exactly how much she has won, Alyssa has earned enough to step away from the 9-to-5 of corporate fashion. She now uses her time to pursue interests, passions and meaningful experiences, with a focus on improving her mental and physical wellbeing.

Alyssa's shock windfall has also led to her completely re-evaluating and romance, prompting her decision to call off her own wedding.

Speaking recently with People, Alyssa, who is from the US, explained that while she still respected her fiancé, this unexpected twist of fate made her realise that marriage wouldn't, at this current time at least, be the right choice for her. Alyssa shared: “I also think that my view of marriage has really changed as a young woman who is able to provide financially for herself.

"You know, sometimes we find ourselves in marriages because it provides stability … but I just felt that I am not ready to have a family, settle down, and I'm not in a place where I need to.”

In a TikTok video, Alyssa told of how she'd called off the engagement just three days before she and her partner intended to elope in Las Vegas. She also described marriage as a “trap meant to keep people miserable”. As a young woman who is still only in her 20s, independent-minded Alyssa is in no rush to settle down and wants to live life on her own terms.

Outlining her way of thinking, Alyssa said: “I'm reading a book called Women Who Run with the Wolves and it basically kind of touches on the history of marriage, and you know it wasn't really based on love. That's a pretty new phenomenon – basing a marriage on love – probably the past hundred years. But it was more so about assets…and about protecting those things.”

Now she doesn't have to work 40 to 50 hours a week, Alyssa is able to pursue creative pursuits she previously never had time for, including water colours, painting, knitting and making clothes.

She's also revived her old love of cheerleading and is currently training for a half marathon. For the moment, relationships are not a priority.

She went on to reflect: “Being in a relationship is great, being in love is great. But I think when you start involving the legal system, that's a part I don’t think I need to do because I’m okay in those regards.”
