Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has died at the age of 79, his daughter-in-law has revealed.
According to his family he was diagnosed with disease in December during an episode of the Unashamed with The Robertson Family podcast.
Phil's son Willie's wife for over 30 years, Korie Robertson, shared on on Sunday that Phil was a man of God, and always tried to remind others that death only means a return to God's kingdom, . "We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord," Korie penned on her Facebook page.
Korie added: "[Phil] reminded us often of the words of Paul, 'you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him'."

Further in her post, Korie thanked her followers for their "love and prayers," appreciating everyone who found comfort in tuning into Phil and the rest of the Duck Dynasty crew.
"Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus," she explained.
"We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again," Korie wrote. She noted: "We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life. We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life."
A number of shocked fans posted messages of support, with one saying: "His words had such an impact on my siblings and my life and we are deeply thankful. Seeing his love shine throughout his family with the strong love and wisdom of the word of God, gave and continues to give such hopee. Thank you for a wonderful childhood, and thank you Robertsons for continuing his love for Gods people. My condolences."
Another said: "Honestly, Phil was like America’s grandpa," a third penned: "He put smiles on the faces of us all!"
