Ozzy Osbourne Dies At 76: Ranveer Singh, Adnan Sami, Vir Das & Other Celebs Mourn Legendary Black Sabbath Frontman's Death

Legendary singer Ozzy Osbourne, who led English rock band Black Sabbath and became the godfather of heavy metal, passed away at 76. His family issued an official statement on Wednesday (July 23) to inform media and his followers about his demise.

Soon after the news broke, social media was flooded with condolence messages. Several Bollywood and other celebrities also mourned Ozzy's death online.

Expressing his sorrow, actor Ranveer Singh shared a picture of Ozzy on his Instagram story and added broken heart, folded hand and a guitar emoji.

Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das also shared the late singer's photo on Instagram and penned an emotional note. "Shed many tears. Go on home prince thank you for the soundtrack to many great moments in my life. #Ozzy," he wrote.

In the comments section of his post, actor Prateik Smita Patil wrote, "Prince of darkness forever ♾️"

Ozzy Osbourne's death

According to media reports, Ozzy breathed his last on Tuesday after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

In an official statement, his family mentioned, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

"Just two weeks ago, Ozzy performed at what was billed as Black Sabbath's final concert, a festival titled Back to the Beginning, held in Birmingham, England, the hometown of both Ozzy and the band. The event served as a grand tribute to the legendary group, featuring performances and tributes from Metallica, Guns N Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and more.

In January 2020, following two years of escalating health problems, Osbourne announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In February 2023, he issued a statement saying that he was retiring from touring, citing spinal injuries he had sustained in a 2018 accident.
