Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Tribal affairs minister Vijay Shah, who is under-fire and is named in an FIR following controversial remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, is being sidelined in public events, as seen at a workshop organised by the Forest and Tribal Departments at Indore's Brilliant Convention Centre on Thursday.
At the event, promotional hoardings prominently displayed images of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Vijay Shah. However, before the workshop commenced, officials were instructed to obscure Shah's photo.
In a hurried attempt to comply, staff members covered Shah’s image with a white sheet and replaced it with a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, their attempt led to a further protocol breach as the Prime Minister’s photo was placed in a secondary position, while CM Mohan Yadav’s remained prominently displayed.
The incident has raised eyebrows, with critics pointing out that the officers' effort to downplay Shah’s presence resulted in a new controversy. Instead of addressing the situation tactfully, the move to cover Shah's image with that of the Prime Minister's has been perceived as a misstep, leading to further embarrassment for the government.
Vijay Shah, a senior cabinet member in the Tribal Department, is facing mounting backlash as the High Court's directive for an FIR has intensified opposition against him. His political future now hangs in the balance as the controversy continues to unfold.
