Mumbai Indians (MI) cruised to a commanding seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 41st match of IPL 2025. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, MI’s bowlers executed their plans with precision to restrict SRH to a modest 143/8 in 20 overs.
Trent Boult was the standout with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 26 runs, dismantling SRH’s top and lower order. He removed Travis Head for a duck and returned later to dismiss Abhishek Sharma (8), Abhinav Manohar (43), and Pat Cummins (1). Deepak Chahar also chipped in with two crucial scalps, including Ishan Kishan (1) and Nitish Reddy (2). Heinrich Klaasen was the lone warrior for SRH, smashing 71 off 44 balls, featuring nine fours and two sixes, before falling to Jasprit Bumrah in the 19th over.
In response, MI got off to a flying start despite losing Ryan Rickelton early for 11. Rohit Sharma led the chase in style with a blistering 70 off 46 balls, supported well by Will Jacks (22 off 19) and Suryakumar Yadav (40* off 19). MI chased the target in just 15.4 overs, finishing at 146/3, showcasing their dominance with the bat.
The win sees Mumbai Indians climb to third on the points table, making a strong statement in the latter half of the tournament. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to struggle, now languishing second-last in the standings.
