In a tournament where dominance usually comes between teams, the match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad saw an unlikely third force take control: the scorching heat. The extreme weather conditions tested the endurance of players from both sides, with several of them struggling to cope with the humidity.
Players like Axar Patel and Prasidh Krishna were seen struggling with cramps, while veteran Indian pacer appeared the most affected in the field. The 36-year-old spent a significant portion of the match on the sidelines, and a commentator described his condition as a possible 'heat stroke'. In a commendable show of effort, the right-arm pacer cooled himself with wet towels and managed to deliver a three-over spell, picking up one wicket.
GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first, acknowledging during the toss that the heat was intense, and DC's captain Axar Patel mentioned about the heat as well. Despite the difficult conditions, DC's batting unit rose to the occasion and dominated the GT bowlers.
