Patna (Bihar) [India], September 1 (ANI): Months ahead of the forthcoming Bihar assembly elections, Jharkhand Minister Irfan Ansari on Monday exuded confidence, stating that there are clear signs of change in Bihar and the public has made up its mind.
As today marks the conclusion day of the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', Ansari stated that Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi's arrival in Bihar has ignited a ray of hope among the people of the state.
"There are clear signs of change in Bihar. The public has made up its mind. How much oppression can the people endure? Now, a stable government is needed here. With Rahul Gandhi's arrival, hope has been ignited among the people here..." the Jharkhand Minister told ANI.
The 16-day-long 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' led by Congress MP and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi is aimed at raising awareness about voter rights and protesting against alleged "vote theft" and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
Speaking on the alleged abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Ansari accused the BJP of "misleading" people under a "well-thought-out strategy."
"The BJP should stop misleading the public... The person who used abusive language is from the BJP itself. The people of Bihar cannot be fooled... This is a well-thought-out strategy..." he said.
Earlier, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday slammed the Election Commission of India, stating that the poll body has lost its credibility.
Tejashwi Yadav will be joining Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi on the concluding day of Voter Adhikar Yatra. Several other prominent leaders of the INDIA bloc will be joining the yatra in Patna.
The RJD leader lauded the support received during the Voter Adhikar Yatra and said that the people of Bihar will dethrone the incumbent NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government from Bihar.
"The Election Commission of India has lost its credibility. The BJP has been exposed...The public will throw them out of power and a message will be sent to the nation from Bihar. Those who want to destroy the Constitution, democracy will be given a befitting reply...We received huge support in the yatra," Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.
The 16 day yatra, taken out by Rahul Gandhi to highlight the alleged case of 'vote chori' (vote theft) by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the alleged irregularities in the voter list by the Election Commission of India (ECI), will conclude in Patna today.
The campaign began on August 17, with Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav conducting the yatra together from Sasaram. From there, the rally spanned across 25 districts, to Aurangabad, Gayaji, Siwan, and others.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Yusuf Pathan and Lalitesh Pati Tripathi are also set to join the Rahul Gandhi-led Voter Adhikar Yatra on its concluding day in Patna.
Multiple other INDIA bloc leaders have attended the yatra at various points. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin have joined the rally.
Other chief ministers, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, participated in the yatra. (ANI)
