Patna (Bihar) [India], October 26 (ANI): The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar launched a scathing attack against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav over his poll promises, accusing him of "misleading" people ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal took a jibe at Congress and RJD, alleging "Jumlebaazi" as Mahagathbandhan's Chief Ministerial candidate promised to double the honorarium and allowances of panchayat and village court representatives after the alliance forms a government in Bihar.
"INDIA bloc leaders, Congress and RJD leaders have started doing 'Jumlebaazi'. They don't think of anyone when they are in power, and now, when the elections are just 10 days away, they have started all this drama. They are certain of their defeat," Yadav said while addressing reporters in Patna.
Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha chief Jitan Ram Manjhi said that people of Bihar are politically awakened and will not fall for Tejashwi's "trap".
"This man cannot do anything and has only been misleading people forever. During the Lok Sabha elections, they continued the narrative that the constitution is in danger, and this tactic worked to some extent, which is why the NDA won fewer seats. They are again forming such a narrative," Manjhi told ANI.
Intensifying his attack, the Union Minister accused the opposition Mahagathbandhan of peddling narratives that mislead the public and said people will not fall for them.
"These people are not going to win and are saying things just for the sake of it. NDA will form the government, but if, under unforeseen circumstances, they do, they will not fulfil their promises and will say the Union government spent all the money and gave them nothing. People of Bihar are politically awakened and will not fall into their trap this time," the HAM leader said.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and NDA's candidate from Tarapur Assembly constituency, Samrat Choudhary slammed the RJD for only making promises before polls, and said the real issue is delivering.
Speaking to reporters, Chaudhary emphasised that the NDA government delivers on its promises, as there is a clear difference between those who talk and those who act.
"In democracy, just talking is not the only issue; the Modi-Nitish Kumar government delivers on its promises and after delivering, it gives a message, so on one side there are people who talk (RJD) and on the other side there are people who act (NDA), they act- Modiji and Nitish Kumar," said Chaudhary.
NDA's attack came after Tejashwi Yadav announced, "The honorarium and allowances of the three-tier panchayat representatives and village court representatives (gram kachari pratinidhi) will be doubled when our government comes to power. A pension scheme will be started for former panchayat and village court representatives. Three-tier panchayat and village court representatives will be provided with insurance coverage up to 50 lakh rupees," the RJD leader said.
He also announced that a lump sum of Rs 5 lakh for five years will be provided interest-free to people from marginalised communities, engaged in caste-based professions, to assist them financially.
"A lump sum of Rs 5 lakh, which will be interest-free, will be provided to the hardworking people of communities, including Nai, Kumhar, Badai and Lohar, for five years to financially assist them. From this, they would be able to buy modern tools to sustain their (self-) employment," Tejashwi said.
Highlighting the anti-incumbency in Bihar, Tejashwi exuded confidence that people will bring about a change in the government.
"If you saw a seed of only one brand, it doesn't yield crops and turns the land barren. People of Bihar will bring about a change (in the government). We are asking the people of Bihar to give us merely 20 months. I have complete faith in the people of Bihar that there will be a change. Mahagathbandhan will form the government, and together we will work to build a new Bihar," he added.
Meanwhile, the founder of Jan Suraaj, Prashant Kishor also launched a veiled attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and wondered "if the people who have ruined Bihar are called "heroes", "then who is the villain"?
When asked about Tejashwi Yadav being called "Nayak of Bihar" on social media by his supporters, Kishore replied, "If the people who have ruined Bihar are heroes, then who is the villain? The people of Bihar know which people have brought Bihar to this state."
"They can't be Nayak of Bihar, " he asserted.
Jan Suraaj, seen as the third alternative for voters in the assembly poll, is contesting on all 243 seats, while the main contest is expected between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Opposition's Chief Ministerial face, will contest the elections from Raghopur constituency, where he will go against NDA's candidate, BJP leader Satish Kumar, and Jan Suraaj's Chanchal Kumar.
The NDA comprises the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The Mahagathbandhan, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), includes Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Mukesh Sahani's Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14. (ANI)
