This isn't just a misuse of your rights, but a direct abuse of your copyright. However, YouTube has a complete system in place to protect your content.
It often happens that you've created a video with great effort, invested time and effort, and uploaded it to YouTube. Later, you discover that someone else has uploaded the same video to their YouTube channel without your permission. This isn't just a misuse of your rights, but a direct abuse of your copyright. However, YouTube has a complete system in place to protect your content. So, let's explain the complete procedure for removing your video if someone uploads it to YouTube.
What is copyright?
Copyright is a legal right granted to the original creator of any creative content, such as videos, music, articles, photos, etc. This means that no other person or organization can use that content without permission. Doing so constitutes copyright infringement, and legal action can be taken against them.
What is the full process for removing a video?
If you believe someone has uploaded a video you created without your permission, you can officially and legally request YouTube to remove it. YouTube offers two ways: first, by filling out an online web form, and second, by requesting the video's removal via email.
How to fill out the web form for removing a video?
1. To remove a video, first log in to YouTube Studio and log in with your account.
2. Then, click on the Copyright section from the left menu.
3. Now, click on New Removal Request.
4. After this, fill out the web form. Enter the link to the video uploaded without your permission. Provide details about your original video. Enter your name, email address, and other information. Agree to two legal statements. Finally, select the box to block copies of these videos from appearing on YouTube.
5. Now, click the Submit button.
How can you get videos removed via email?
If you don't want to use the web form, you can also send your request via email. You can email copyright@youtube.com. Include your contact information, such as your name, address, phone number, and email address. Then, describe what you created and where you uploaded it. Also, provide a link to the infringing video. Then, provide your legal statement. Finally, enter your legal name. When you request a video to be removed, YouTube gives you the option to prevent future copies of that video from being uploaded to YouTube.
