Great news for passport applicants in Ghaziabad! The process of police verification for passport issuance has just become easier and more convenient. Under a new system introduced by the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate, citizens will no longer need to visit police stations for verification. Instead, beat constables will now visit applicants' homes to complete the necessary formalities.
This major shift in procedure is aimed at saving time, reducing public inconvenience, and eliminating reported cases of corruption during the verification process.
🏠 Police Verification at Your DoorstepUntil now, passport applicants were required to visit the concerned police station, submit documents, and undergo verification in person. This often led to long wait times, multiple visits, and even allegations of bribes demanded by officials.
With the new home-based verification process, beat constables will collect required documents, obtain the applicant’s signature, and complete the verification process directly at the applicant’s residence. This will not only streamline the system but also enhance transparency.
📊 Daily Passport Verification VolumeEvery day, police stations in Modinagar, Muradnagar, Niwari, and Bhojpur receive between 30 to 40 passport verification requests. Under the updated process, each beat constable will be responsible for handling verifications in their assigned area. They will collect files from the police station, visit the applicant's home, verify the documents, and return the report for further processing.
This method has already been implemented in the Modinagar circle, and initial feedback suggests it is saving applicants both time and effort.
🚨 Addressing the Issue of BriberyOne of the core reasons behind this change is the rising number of complaints of bribery during passport verifications. Applicants had reported being asked to pay ₹500 to ₹1000 in the name of completing verification. With police personnel now visiting homes, the scope for such malpractice is expected to decrease significantly.
According to ACP Gyan Prakash Rai of Modinagar, the new initiative is already underway, and station in-charges have been instructed accordingly. The move is being seen as a step toward a more citizen-friendly and transparent police system.
✅ Benefits of the New System-
No need to visit police stations
-
Reduced travel and waiting time
-
Home-based verification ensures comfort and security
-
Curb on illegal extortion
-
Better public-police engagement
This new process marks a positive development in the passport verification system, offering relief to thousands of applicants each month. By removing the need to physically visit the police station and minimizing the scope for unethical practices, the Ghaziabad Police has taken a strong step towards citizen-centric governance.
