The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the tentative schedule for the 2026 Class 10th and 12th board exams. According to the board's official notice, the exams will begin on February 17, 2026, and will be held until July 15, 2026. During this period, along with the main exams, special exams for sports students, a second Class 10 board exam, and a Class 12 supplementary exam will also be conducted.
According to the CBSE's tentative datesheet, the first edition of the Class 10 board exams will be held from February 17th to March 6, 2026. Additionally, the second Class 10 board exam will be held from May 15th to June 1st. Meanwhile, Class 12 board exams will be held from February 17th to April 9th, 2026.
According to the CBSE, approximately 4.5 million students in India will appear for these exams. Exams will be conducted in 204 subjects in India as well as in 26 countries abroad. The board also stated that these schedules are tentative and the final version will be released after schools submit their final list of students.
Evaluation Process
The CBSE has clarified that the evaluation process will begin on time after the exams. Answer sheets will be evaluated approximately 10 days after each subject's exam and will be completed within 12 days. For example, if the Class 12 Physics exam is held on February 20th, evaluation will begin on March 3rd and be completed by March 15th.
This move by the Board is a major effort to ensure timely examination schedules and results for students. Students are advised to prepare for the exams in a timely manner and ensure all necessary procedures, including practicals, are completed.
